By India Today Sports Desk: South Africa captain Sune Luus has called Australia an annoying team to face after their loss in the final of the T20 World Cup. Luus, who captained South Africa to their first ever senior ICC World Cup Final, spoke candidly about the game and the condition of women’s cricket in the country. She congratulated the Australian team on their record-extending 6th title win in the women’s T20 World Cup.
“You guys are very annoying! But congratulations to Meg and the team. You are setting benchmark for other teams to live up to,” Luus said after the game.

Stating that she did not expect the crowd to turn up throughout the tournament, she said that the country needed to more to build a steady supply of quality players in the international stage of the game.

“Exciting few months in store. They have to start club cricket and more provincial cricket to have a continuous supply of players,” the batter said on the potential improvements to the game in South Africa.
The player hoped that women’s cricket would keep growing in South Africa after the team’s spirited run in the tournament.
“Just to keep on growing. We have set the platform today and throughout the tournament. We can’t go up. We need to keep growing through pipeline and keep challenging Australia,” the captain said.
South Africa were able to restrict Australia for just 156 runs in the first innings, which seemed like a gettable total. However, the Australian bowlers hit back and were able to build enough pressure for SA to crumble at the back end of the innings.
“If you would have told me before the game that Australia would have scored 156, we would have taken it. We lost wickets at crucial times, they bowled well and we are proud of how we did,” Luus spoke about the game.
