Roger federer says good bye to tennis at age 41

The 20-time Grand Slam winner has decided to retire after suffering from a knee issue for the past three years.

The previous three years have provided me with obstacles in the shape of injuries and operations, Federer announced in a message shared on social media.

"But I also know my body's capacities and limits, and its message to me lately has been clear. I am 41 years old. I have played more than 1,500 matches over 24 years

Federer earned a total of $106.3 million in 2020, making him the highest-paid athlete.  On the list of the highest-paid athletes in the world in 2022, he then fell to eighth place.

His anticipated career earnings, total an astounding $1.1 billion. The astronomical amount surpasses Nadal's and Djokovic's combined lifetime earnings of $500 million and $470 million.

When he start his career at the 1998 he said on the first match "We'll see him again," was said. Our boys' singles champion that year was Roger Federer, who was 16 years old.

The first male tennis player to ever win 20 Grand Slam tournaments was Federer. At the 2019 Wimbledon, Federer faced off against Djokovic in his final Grand Slam match.
