By India Today Web Desk: Former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp has said that the Reds are fragile and their confidence is extremely low right now. Liverpool is placed seventh in the Premier League table, after playing out a goalless draw against Patrick Viera’s Crystal Palace.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Redknapp said Liverpool are fragile and are not paying with any freedom, adding that this is a tough moment for the club.
“I think, with Liverpool right now, that’s the performance I expected from them. They’re fragile, their confidence is extremely low, they’re not playing with any freedom. The clean sheet is obviously a plus, because when you concede five in midweek you obviously have to dig in. But it’s tough times at the moment,” said Redknapp.
He went on to say that Liverpool’s season will ride on their next two matches, where they face Wolves and then rivals Manchester United in the Premier League.
“Liverpool’s season is almost going to ride on these next two games. They’ve got to win these next two home games. They’ve got to find that belief and confidence at home, because a little bit will have been knocked away with that [Real Madrid] performance. But they are games that I really believe will make all the difference,” Redknapp added.
The former England midfielder said Liverpool will be able to attract the best players in Europe despite their poor form this season, adding that Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham will be looking at Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp as a viable option in the summer.
“They will still get the best, even if they don’t get top four. Manchester United have never had that problem, buying the big players [when they’re struggling]. They will still be able to get the best. Jude Bellingham will look at Liverpool and look at Klopp as a viable option because of what he will bring and how much he can improve,” said Redknapp.
