By India Today Sports Desk: Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag said he is looking to the Carabao Cup final at Wembley on Sunday as the Dutch tactician looks to end the club’s trophy drought.
United will be facing Newcastle United on Sunday on the back of a thrilling comeback win over Barcelona in the UEFA Europa League to make it to the Round Of 16 stages of the competition.
Speaking about the result on Manchester United’s website, Ten Hag said that the Barca win was a highlight in his career.
“It’s a difficult question. I have so many highlights, but definitely [the Barcelona match was] a highlight. We won the game but in the end it is about winning trophies, so it is on the road – hopefully – to silverware. But when you beat Barcelona, it is one of the best teams in Europe, eight points ahead of Real Madrid and we have seen already Madrid play against Liverpool this week, so then you know if you beat [Barcelona], you have done a really good job.”
The United manager said that he wants to keep the momentum going by winning the Carabao Cup final on Sunday at the iconic Wembley stadium.
“Keep the momentum. Keep going. We know it’s a way of life, we have to prepare for it. Get the right food it, get enough sleep, get energy and go to the next game.”
Ten Hag also admitted that he is very excited and really looking forward to the Carabao Cup final on Sunday.
“Very. I’ve seen so many games [there] on television but I have never been, I’ve never had the pleasure to have been, so Sunday is the first time and I’m really looking forward to it.”
